2019.02.01 Va. Gov Ralph Northam

Poor Ralph, the Democrat Governor for Virginia, got caught dressing up for Halloween in blackface (1984). Of course CNN reported him as a Republican, but like many racist politicians, he is devoutly Democrat. The NYT tried to spin it as "Dark Makeup", as if his smokey eye got out of control. [1] So long Ralph, we hardly knew ya.

Not Racism

While Northam is an idiot on just about every position he holds, I'm not sure we should fire a guy because he showed poor judgment 35 years ago, by mocking racism. And that's important to remember -- when you dressed up as a Klansman and a Negro in 1984, it wasn't because you supported the behaviors of the past, it was because you were mocking the Klan. And I disagree that over-reaction to racism or intesectionalism actually helps -- I think it fosters resentment and tribalism more than helps -- so I disagree with the lefts position on that.

But as the Democrats/NAACP and others point out, if this had been a Republican, they would have screamed for his head -- so they need to lead by example. Personally, I think both should be given leniency and context remembered -- but if the left is going to be hateful, bigoted, and demand Republicans firing (and they would), then they do have to be morally consistent and demand it of their own side. Stupid: but at least consistently so. (If it had been a black kid wearing whiteface, or acting white, we would not have reacted the same).

🗒️ NOTE:
Ironically, Wreck-it-Ralph's blackface fiasco started catching all sorts of others in the same thing. The MeToo movement for anyone that put on dark makeup. Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Joy Behar, even poor Mary Poppins got it for soot on their faces. It turns out what folks thought as edgy or funny in the 1980's is racism in 2019. It's almost like the leftist children don't understand that societal standards change with the times, like their musical tastes, and judging people's past behaviors based on present norms, is retarded. Oh wait... that term isn't PC any more. Let's say they are "differently-abled". It's gotten so bad, that Gucci had to pull a turtleneck sweater, because with it up, people might think you're in blackface. (You can't make this shit up). [2]

Infanticide Advocate

Ironically, the thing that should have got him more flack in the same week: infanticide[3], was glossed over my much of the media, and not called out. But to quote him,

❝ When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physicians, more than one physician, by the way. And it's done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that's non-viable. So in this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother. So I think this was really blown out of proportion. ❞

Everything about that quote was moronic, immoral and wrong.

  • Most late term abortions are not done with the consent of multiple physicians
  • It doesn't matter if 10 physicians agreed on murdering an innocent, it's still infanticide
  • Less than 1% of late term abortions are done for health of the baby
  • And the law is proposing allowing those abortions -- not just the cases he's talking about.

So complete and utter smoldering bullshit. Then his office doubled-down and made it worse,

❝ Republicans in Virginia and across the country are trying to play politics with women's health, and that is exactly why these decisions belong between a woman and her physician, not legislators, most of whom are men. No woman seeks a third trimester abortion except in the case of tragic or difficult circumstances, such as a nonviable pregnancy or in the event of severe fetal abnormalities, and the governor's comments were limited to the actions physicians would take in the event that a woman in those circumstances went into labor. ❞

This is even more stupid, but a common far-left lie (talking point) that appeals to the gullible:

  • It was the Democrats trying to politicize abortion by adding a new law, to allow it in all later term cases (for any condition, not just the made up scenario)
  • Thus it was the Governor (Democrats) politicization that the Republicans were responding to, not the other way around
  • A Doctor and a Mother don't get to decide to murder an innocent viable baby, just because it would be convenient if it died.
  • 99% of Women seeking late term abortions do it for reasons other than fetal health, that's not "no woman"
  • Physicians should "do no harm" by action or neglect, and his words were saying they should just let a viable infant die on the table or help the mother decide to kill it.

The only appropriate statement is an apology, not finger pointing at the Republicans for having medical ethics in line with the Hippocratic Oath. So his offices defense was worse than his statement.

🗒️ NOTE:
The Babylon Bee jumped in with their satire on the issue, "New Law Allows Parents To Abort Non-Viable Millennials" and writes pithy commentary on termination of live-at-home 30 year olds. [4] Since those basement dwellers vote (D), the DNC would oppose this. But if they voted (R), I'm not so sure they would.

Look, I get the complexities. I certainly wouldn't want a severely handicapped baby, and am not sure how I would react in that situation. (Which side I would be on). It's tragic. But that doesn't mean the State should be in the business of authorizing infanticide for convenience. And 99% of late term abortions are not for the reasons he's painting. Either he's terminally ignorant of the topic, or a dishonest liar. Fortunately, I give him the benefit of the doubt, and think he's just another uninformed Democrat -- or I'd think he was a really vile human being. Like anyone knowing the stats and advocating for infanticide anyways.

Abortion

Abortion is a deeply personal view, and I used to explore people by asking or sharing my views on it and seeing how they respond. This article covers many aspects of the topic, in what I hope is a somewhat neutral and informed way, though I openly have and express my opinions. The point is not to change anyone's mind, and I leave people room for their own personal views. more...

Racist Ad Driver

To understand how wreck-it-Ralph never politicizes an issue (like he accuses the Republicans of, above), here's him, driving the Truck in a far left hate ad, that implies that Trump, Republicans, and everyone with a confederate flag, hates blacks, Muslims and other minorities. [5]
