In remembrance of Orlando (Pulse) nightclub shooting, where violent Islamic radical Omar Mateen shot 49 people in a terrorist attack, WaPo forgot to mention anything about Islam or Terror. They remembered to stress the need for gun control and gay safe spaces, since neither was relevant: Omar didn't know it was a gay nightclub, and there's no proposed gun control laws that would have helped. It's kind of like blaming 9/11 attack on pilot error, and demanding more flight hours before getting your license.

It's easy to get confused -- Omar only explained on the phone to police (and multiple hostages) why he was doing it for 2 1/2 hours, saying he was carrying out the shooting on behalf of ISIL and the shooting was "triggered" by a U.S.-led bombing strike in Iraq that killed Abu Wahib, an ISIL military commander, on May 6. And, "tell America to stop bombing Syria and Iraq". Yup, sounds like just another random mass murder, for no known reason at all.

The reason 49 people died? More than half bled out, because the local cops broke protocol and incompetently treated it as a hostage situation, instead of an active shooter situation, otherwise probably half+ could have been saved. But the media was too busy spinning the gay nightclub or gun control angles, to try to find the real problem that could have reduced the body count by half.
