Politically Correct is an idea whose roots are in marxist intolerance, that goes back to Stalin (and before). Basically, 1984 summed it up as truthspeak, forcing people to use words and ideas incorrectly, because the truth was offensive to the party/leadership. It's still that, just many have lost sight of the origins. Example:

  • “Comrade, your statement is factually incorrect.”
  • “Yes, it is. But it is politically correct.”
