H. J. Whitley had already started over 100 towns across the western United States, he was on his honeymoon in 1886 at the top of the hill looking out over the valley. Along came a Chinese man in a wagon carrying wood. The man got out of the wagon and bowed. The Chinese man was asked what he was doing and replied, "I holly-wood," meaning 'hauling wood.' H. J. Whitley decided to name his new town Hollywood: "Holly" would represent England and "wood" would represent his Scottish heritage.

H. J. Whitley's company (Los Angeles Pacific Boulevard and Development Company), bought the 480 acres E.C. Hurd ranch, and created the map of his plans. But it was Daeida Wilcox, a prominent investor and friend of Whitley's, who recommended the same name to her husband, who had purchased 120 acres on February 1, 1887, and they used that name and filed it with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office on a deed and parcel map of the property.

Hollywood was incorporated as a municipality on November 14, 1903, and then (January 30, 1904) banished liquor in the city, except when it was being sold for medicinal purposes, and later movie theaters. Then in 1910, the city voted to merge with Los Angeles in order to secure an adequate water supply and to gain access to the L.A. sewer system. Finally 1923, a large sign, reading HOLLYWOODLAND, was built in the Hollywood Hills to advertise a housing development -- and in 1949 the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce took over repair and rebuilding the sign: including removing the last 4 letters, to now refer to the district, rather than the housing development.

After problems in New Jersey because of Edison suing filmmakers, many of them fled west to Los Angeles area and started setting up production near Los Angeles for better weather, variety of terrain, and to evade New Jersey patent infringement. Hollywood became known as Tinseltown and the "dream factory" because of the glittering image of the movie industry.

This is the perfect summary, it was named after a racial slur, sold as being for something else. It was named by one person but another person registered it. The first thing they did was make it a dry city and ban the industry that made it famous -- which only happened there so they could rip off someone else's intellectual property. The sign they're most famous for was done by someone else, and they stole credit. And only a few years after being founded they had to give up control because they couldn't manage their own water or sewage. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

1978 🔫 Those Hollywood Hills -
Hollywood.png
Cottontail.jpg
Like any other 14 year old kid, I had sewn a holster-pocket into my L.A. Dodgers wind-breaker to carry my suppressed (silenced) pistol, and a game bag, so I could hunt rabbit/quail/squirrel in Griffith Park / Hollywood Hills. A large predator guy was following me, but I kept ditching him on the trails. Then, while stalking up on a bunny, he approached me and said, "You want some excitement". I never found out whether he meant sex or drugs, as the bunny popped his head up at the voice, and I drew my gun and dropped the bunny with a muffled pop and a bunny death-scream, and the guy ran off. I had switched from prey to predator in one impotence-inducing instant, and that perv wanted nothing to do with that (or me). There is no way to know how far the guy would have gone had the teen not been armed, but I'd like to think he stopped approaching kids in the park after that. The rabbit was delicious.

Aaron Sorkin -
Sorkin.png
They say "you are what you do", you're the sum of your work, and your work is a reflection of your soul. While some of Sorkin's stuff is mildly entertaining, I'd be embarrassed if I was him. Of course he probably isn't, which tells me what I need to know about him.

Academy Awards - Satire Site Babylon-Bee summed up the Academy Awards as, "4-Hour-Long Political Lecture To Be Disguised As Awards Show". Yeah, it's worse than that. The lack of intellectual diversity, the demands of political correctness/conformity have sucked the drama and interest out of what was already a boring idea: industry wonks patting other industry wonks on the ass, over their ability to play make-believe and pretend to be people more important than they are. The results are the smallest audiences in the shows history.

Alyssa Milano -

2018.10.05 - Finally admitting that Bill Clinton might have done something wrong.

Asia Argento -
Clinton-hypocrisy-me-too.jpg
Asia Argento demonstrates everything that's wrong with Hollywood (and the larger SJW Entertainment industry), with her sanctimonious hypocritical speech. She calls out Harvey for "rape" on something she willfully participated in and blames everyone else for allowing it to happen after she didn't lift a finger to report or stop it, and the truly clueless will call her brave for coming forward (after everyone else gave her cover), and for being a Woman's advocate after sucking dick in exchange for career advancement -- and only coming forward after she allowed the abuse to continue for 25 years. There's a word for what she is, and it isn't "hero".

Eric McCormack - Will, of Will and Grace, the once mildly entertaining, later obnoxiously sanctimonious show about a Gay Lawyer (Modern Ricky, er Will) and his incompetent/bumbling friend (Lucy... er, Grace), and how they do stupid things together. It was considered groundbreaking for having a the straightest Gay semi-Lead character in a TV show, played by a straight actor. At some point in his life, Eric decided that pretending to be interesting wasn't enough meaning, so he had to conservative hating asshat, and said that he didn't want any intellectual diversity on his show. (No Conservatives). And also that anyone that donates to conservatives should be outted/doxxed and harassed. Basically, he wants to bring back Hollywood blacklists. (Debrah Messing, his co-star also took the fascist side).

George Takei - Look, I don't mind George, he's snarky, bitchy, catty, sometimes funny, and famous for being a b-rate actor in a b-rate series that went viral. But he's also a liberal flaming hypocrite.

Hollywood Hackers versus real life -
CSICyber.jpeg
Intrusion and prevention is nothing like the movies. Think months to deliver an attack, to get through layers of defenses. And most counter-hacking is computer forensics to figure out what they got, days or weeks after they're gone: following log trails, or decoding some payload. If you know they're there, they can block you -- and they can usually only figure out someone was there, long after they're gone.

Hollywood anti-war movies - Hollywood went hippie left in the 60s and 70s and has been selling the same propaganda ever since: the military is fucked up, you can't trust your fellows because they'll all snap and start wearing ears as trophies, and you have to be broken to want to go, because you'll be broken by the time you come home. Just a small sampling of movies with that theme: Apocalypse Now, The Boys in Company C, Rolling Thunder, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Hamburger Hill, MASH, POW The Escape, Casualties of War, Rules of Engagement, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Born on the Fourth of July, Welcome Home, Heroes, Coming Home, The War at Home, Jackknife, Dr. Strangelove, In the Valley of Elah, The Kingdom, Paths of Glory, Johnny Got His Gun, Jarhead, No End in Sight, Redacted, War, Inc, The Thin Red Line, and so on, and so on. All selling the same message about the military -- soldiers are all fucked up individuals doing or trying to recovery from what their fellows did in war. (NOTE: See if you can name 5 movies (made after 1970), that showed that military people in general were good and decent people trying to protect the people they loved).

Jim Carrey - A Canadian actor, comedian, writer, and faux artist. He was known for his energetic slapstick performances, that sort of lost his mind and his civility. (Maybe part of his depression, or deeper mental issues).
  • He's an Anti-vaxxer (which is fine), and he calls those that disagree with him, 'corporate fascist who are poisoning children by enacting vaccination requirements'.
  • He practices Transcendental Meditation
  • Carrey believes in the "law of attraction" -- the New Age religion that believes that your thought are pure energy that can create outcomes: like visualizing money will result in that money coming to you. Which is important context for the next item.
  • He has been showing his own political cartoon, which often involve violence porn against Donald Trump, Sarah Huckabee, or the abortion of the governor of Alabama. With the former belief in the power of thought, he's basically trying to commit witchcraft: willing harm comes to people he doesn't agree with (for their political problem of being more educated on the issues than he is).

Jimmy Kimmel -
Kimmel1.png
Jimmy Kimmel was a misogynist and not-very-funny pseudo-commedian of the Man Show, before he became a host of late night TV. Then he decided to become "woke". Instead of taking the Johnny Carson tradition of poking at both sides, but mostly staying out of politics except for some zingers -- Kimmel became an SJW moron, that alienates anyone with a triply digit IQ. Instead of replacing Johnny Carson he decided he wanted to replace Jon Stewart, because Stewart had lower ratings, lower IQ audience, and won all sorts of Hollywood awards for his dishonesty. Who wouldn't want some of that?

John Oliver -
JohnOliver.jpg
John Oliver is Jon Stewards perpetually outraged successor, but it feels like he's Jon's British Socialist cousin -- which isn't a big stretch as sympathy for statism seems to run deep in that family. It's their schtick: look at everything in the world as if you're channelling Mao or Michael Moore, if either had an occasionally amusing sense of humor. They're funny, if you don't think too deeply of their policies and consequences. But if you do, they're just Patch Adams telling crippled jokes to amputees at Walter Reed hospital.

Kathy Griffin -
KathyTrump.jpg
Kathy is a whiney, rude, shock-jock of comedy. Not quite as bad as many of her ilk: Sarah Silverman, Rosey O'Donnel, Samantha Bee and such. But still a generally caustic and not very funny human being.

Kavanaugh Hysterics -
KavMedia.jpg
From the moment of the announcement of Brett Kavanaugh being Trump's Supreme Court pick, the left was outraged for the high crime of believing in defending the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic (including when the Progressive agenda collides with the law of the land). The left-stream media (NBC, ABC, CNN, NYT) and the Democrat Politicians (Giffords, Warren, Schumer, Sanders) and activists (Hollywood, #Resist, etc) coordinated their attacks against Kavanaugh, and his character, long before any investigation had showed anything wrong with his rulings. In fact, they never really went after his rulings or professional credentials because they were impeccable. When you can't attack based on facts, then you attack based on made up or exaggerated character flaws like, "he drank beer in college", something Democrats have never had a problem with when their side did it.

Kevin Spacey - I'm not a fan, or hater of Kevin Spacey. But I am an opponent of hypocrisy and double-standards. Kevin appears to have done the right thing of apologizing to his victims, after doing the wrong thing by trying to inebriate and exploit them. And GLADD did the exact right thing by not making excuses for the bad behavior, so I give them complete credit for having objective standards (and living up to them), even if it means sacrificing one of their constituents. If only the Trump haters were as fair and balanced....

Memes-Hollywood - Hollywood, it's not easy mocking something that's a mockery of itself... I take that back. It's too easy....

Robert De Niro -
DeNiro.jpeg
Robert De Niro is a repeat High School flunk-out, multiple divorcé, famous for playing make believe (acting) as low-IQ'd tough guys. While he has quite a filmography, he's recently most famous role is for playing a loud-mouthed low-IQ'd Trump Hating Democrat, ending multiple award presentations with "Fuck Trump", because Trump is a Wharton School graduate in Economics, President, Billionaire and has done more for America than De Niro ever will playing make-believe. The media and Hollywood lap it up, demonstrating their hyper-partisan hypocrisy: can you imagine if any famous conservatives had said "Fuck Obama!", they would have lost their nut over the disrespect to the office. They went apoplectic when Clint Eastwood did a skit at the RNC Convention (a Political Event) where he talked to an empty chair (far more civil, educated and on-topic). So thanks Bobby Milk (his nickname), for proving how shallow and two faced you, the media and Hollywood is.

Rosie O'Donnell -
RosieNose.jpg
Rosie is a somewhat vile person. It's not that she's not entitled to her opinions, I have no problems with that. It's just she's so nasty about anyone who disagrees, that she invites mocking back: nothing is as delicious as seeing a bully get their comeuppance, and Rosie is a bully.

The Dating Game Killer - Rodney James Alcala (born Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor) was called "The Dating Game Killer" because he was a contestant on the TV Show the Dating Game (and won) during the middle of being a fugitive and on a murder spree. Reading about the guy is a dark ride: Guy rapes and tries to kill an 8 year old girl, so they let him off with 3 years. He does it to a 12 year old girl, so he gets off with another two. He goes on the lamb and works for the darling of the Hollywood Left: Roman Polanski in L.A. Then he goes on the Dating Game, wins... and then kills a few more girls. He bragged his body count is between 50-100. So he gets the death penalty in 1980, but due the 9th Circuit and California versions of justice, he's still alive today... and sued the Penal system for a slip and fall accident, and for failure to provide him with low fat meals. It goes to show that if you count on California or Hollywood to protect you, you could be an unsolved murder somewhere. They're more comfortable around folks like this than Republicans.

Tom Brokaw -
Brokaw.jpg
Once considered the paragon of a fair Journalist, now a parody of journalism, often reminding people of how partisan and biased he was all along.
