Ars Technica (Latin for "art of technology") is a website covering news and opinions in technology, science, politics, and society, created by Jon Stokes (and Ken Fisher) in 1998. Basically, it has stayed less formal (journalist standards) and is more like a tech blog, with writers spanning the political and technical spectrum, with varying degrees of crap and brilliance. The political spectrum is usually from left to far left -- and the technical spectrum is from competent to really good, with only occasional misses.

I'd created my first site a couple of years earlier, and met and know Jon. He's not a bad guy in person. Politically, he can be a bit of lefty (see resistant to facts he doesn't like), technically, he was pretty competent. (That's actually meant as a compliment, not a slight and is higher than many tech magazines).

Peter Bright - One of Ars Technica's most obnoxiously left-wing writers, and later exposed as a hypocrite charged with pedophilia (after bragging about sex with an 11 year old and his grooming skills, and seeking sex with a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old). The problem is that Peter had talked about Jailbait and the psychology of child molesters on a few occasions, and neither Twitter nor Ars had a problem with that... while they would have banned conservatives for less. I don't mind the defense of free speech (at least before conviction), I mind the double-standard and lack of vetting.
