2003 Brothers Wedding
I was the best man for my brothers wedding (Sept). He lucked out finding Sarah.
I had 2 duties: bachelor party and wedding toast. While trying to do the former, we had the "Great Blackout" while I was boarding my plane. Flight cancelled, I drove home, and the party went on without me. But the second one went off without a hitch.
The ToastOgden Nash said, "To keep your marriage cup brimming with love, whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you're right, shut up about it."... that Ogden was a wise man.
We'd all like to thank Devon and Sarah for inviting us on this most important of occasions. We're glad to share on the christening of their lives together. Thanks to the wedding party and guests for coming. As you can all tell by the strong family resemblance, I'm the grooms brother and best man. As his brother, I've known him a long time. I could get up here, and relate many long embarrassing stories about his youthful mistakes… but I won't. What I will do is say that I've seen him go through good times and bad; and that I've never seen him happier in his life. While going through a trying time, Devon found God, his Church and Sarah, all in the same year. He met Sarah at that very church, and his misfortunes turned to fortunes. When you look at Devon and Sarah, you can only think how beautiful the bride is… and how, um, lucky the groom is. Yet when you look at Devon, you can see he realizes it his incredible fortune, and he's going to spend the rest of his life celebrating her. In conclusion; Lao Tzu said, "To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage."... Here's to Devon and Sarah’s strength and fearlessness in their new life together. Bottoms up... |
