ZOMG, ZOMG, a noose was found at University of Michigan employee’s desk at a university hospital. Big news on the investigation. A few weeks later, it turns out that there was no racist intent: an employee was practicing tying a “Uni Knot” (used for fishing) on a spool that was returned to storage with the knot still in place. Front page histrionics, back page retraction.
