Bought my first new car, for myself, ever (at 55). I’ve bought Melissa a few new cars, I leased one, and I have bought many nearly new cars -- just never brand new. It was a Hyundai Kona: Ironman Special Edition. I’m not even that much of an Iron Man fan (the Super Hero that is, I like the song), but the black and red two tone was cool. So I bought it sight unseen, got it below sticker (Costco Discount), and it came in and was an even better Dark-Grey and Dark-Red.

Everything was an improvement over my trade-in: the Mazda CX-7. The Mazda was a pretty decent little SUV -- it was pretty good driving dynamics (for an SUV). Not exactly the Porsche Macan, but it had some zip, and didn't handle like a snowplow. But it had a few blind spots, not very good tech, and it's shape meant that it wasn't that big on the inside (despite being big on the outside). The Kona is kind of the opposite -- it's small on the outside, but as roomy on the inside in the passenger area (less in Cargo, but not bad). It's really just kind of a high-hatchback-crossover. But the suspension is great, you pop it into sport mode and it's a lot more spirited to drive than the CX-7 (which wasn't bad), and the tech is great. Dropped my phone down, and it had an integrated charging matt, it worked with Car Play, blind spot detection, a backup camera (finally), keyless entry/ignition.
