The usual suspects are outraged at the song, "God Bless America", supposedly not because of what it said, but because one of the most famous performers (Kate Smith) was a racist. Why? Because in the 1930's she wrote a song with Paul Robeson, actor and civil rights activist, and performed it in a play. Robeson's father was literally a runaway slave. In the play (George White's Scandals), that song (That's Why Darkies Were Born) was mocking white supremacists, and satire like that, at that time, was risking career and life. So for taking such a brave stand, she must be wiped from history, and no statues should be allowed.
