Michael Cohen was a bit of a "fixer" for many famous people, but since Trump was a client, Robert Mueller did some investigation on highly questionable grounds, and was able to find enough evidence to hand it off to the NYC District Attorney to try to get Cohen to either sing (tell facts) or compose (invent them) on Trump, for a reduced sentence on things completely unrelated to Trump, Russia, Collusion, or election rigging. It turns out it worked, he was a dirtbag, and did many illegal or unethical things, and was more than happy to lie (we know of many). We just don't know if he is telling the truth or lying about Trump.

Background

Special Council Robert Mueller found evidence of Trump's lawyer (Michael Cohen's) wrongdoing completely unrelated to his investigation into Russian election meddling, collusion or obstruction. But it was done under the falsified Hillary-paid-for Steele Dossier, claimed Cohen was taking trips to Russia to collude in rigging the election, Mueller used that to discover that Cohen was a dirtbag in ways unrelated to the President. Then so he handed off that evidence to local authorities, who obtained search warrants and conducted the raids at Cohen's home, office, and hotel room. (Systematically attacking anyone close to Trump seems to be the Democrats Schtick). [1]. Since the Steele Dossier was false, the premise for getting the warrants was false, and thus any evidence discovered was fruit from the poisonous tree and inadmissible. But the law can be bent to nail Republicans and their allies.

For a special investigation to work, and have any teeth with the rational, they need to be above reproach. Mueller is the antithesis of a competent, non-partisan, focused investigation into Russian collusion. He's an Obama era crony, desperate to find something to distract from the fact that his very reason for existence, was a fake paid-for dossier created as opposition disinformation, invented by the Clinton Campaign. How do you ever take that back and inject credibility into the Mueller investigation? Since Mueller can't find evidence of his charter (Russian Collusion or Obstruction of Justice), and he needs to justify his existence (so he doesn't appear to be a failure), he has to keep charging anyone close to the President who is guilty of littering or jaywalking, or anything to distract from his failure to find evidence of collusion.

If you ignore that the premise for getting the warrant was fraud, then sure -- Cohen is a dirtbag.

Don't get me wrong, this may not bode well for Trump if Cohen did pay $130,000 hush money to Stormy Daniels (and Trump knew about it). But it's easy to believe that Trump is rich enough that he doesn't know what all his fixers spend money on (some stopping legitimate complaints, many against nuisance ones). However, the problem is that any evidence there is fruit from the tainted tree. There was no authority for Mueller to go on a fishing expedition about Stormy. Even if the Russians and Stormy gave Mueller evidence of crimes on a Silver Platter, this was still completely outside the scope of his investigation... and it only proves the anti-Mueller people's point that it's more a witch-hunt than an investigation. So even if Trump was guilty as hell as conspiring to commit campaign fraud, the amount of taint/bias/overreach in the Mueller investigation won't convince ANYONE (who isn't already a never-trumper) that this was justice.

So that means that if Trump was impeached for paying off a hooker long before he was President, we would become an ungovernable banana republic. (This same standard would be applied in the future to all Democrats and their far worse historical behavior). And on the other side, it's probably harder to justify an inquisition into Stormy Daniels affair, now that Mueller got involved (because this was well outside the scope of the investigation). Like most things the DNC does this is short term good for them, and long term destructive to them and the nation.

My hope is that this is so fucked up, that it destroys the special investigation process in the future, since it failed so miserably. There's no way for Mueller to win, because of the incompetence and bias already displayed.

Plea Deal

Cohen was caught, and he pleaded out, and said exactly what the democrat prosecutors wanted him to -- he pleaded to imaginary crimes. (Some of the crimes don't exist). Then he made a statement to intentionally try to implicate the President, because that's what the Democratic Prosecutor wanted him to say. (Remember, every word was agreed to in advance, he's reading a script of words put in his mouth, in trade for getting less justice than you or I would get in that situation). [2]

But there's no crime, let alone high crime. At worst, there was breaking a minor regulation (which isn't the same thing). If you doubt it, and think there was a high crime, then ask why Obama[3] and Hillary[4] aren't in prison for doing worse?

Intellectual chickenshits will call that "whataboutism" as a way to dodge the point. But what it really is, is called legal precedent. You can't have a system of justice and fairness, where you get different punishments for the same crime, based on whether you're black or white, or whether you're a man or a woman. One set of laws and one set of punishments.

Cohen? Maybe there’s something there. If the unethical lawyer that taped people (violating the law and professional ethics), has a tape of Trump saying, “break the campaign law”, and Cohen being the lawyer and advising against it, then Trump is as guilty as Obama (and Clinton’s) have been. There might be some consequences. But while the leftist media is moist with anticipation... if all they have is the disreputable word of a convicted felon and disbarred lawyer against Trump on some vague conspiracy to silence a porn star (over something that happened a decade before running)? That’s some pretty thin gruel. And if they do catch Trump campaign doing it, then a $375K fine seems to be the precedent for this kind of thing.

But neither has anything to do with Russia, so proves to Trump supporters that Mueller is on a witch hunt, and thus is more likely to enrage his supporters, than outrage them. Meanwhile, the media’s trustability ratings keep dropping.

2019.02.27 Cohen Distraction

Michael Cohen is a disbarred attorney, convicted perjurer (got nailed for lying to congress/FBI) and so on. Trump has made more progress on North Korea in 2 years, than Democrats (and other Republicans) had made in the last 20, and is having a summit that would benefit the U.S., Asia and the world. So the Democrats are starting a multi-day distraction campaign to take the testimony of a liar and fraud, to give their partisan media a FakeNews distraction to focus on, instead of the RealNews story which is the North Korean Summit. This shows that the Democrats and their Press would rather subvert global democracy and American National Interests, than give Trump an earned victory that benefits the country and globe. more...

MSNBC gets it wrong, always. They claimed the feds had wiretapped Cohen, they had what's called a pen register warrant, basically, they can get metadata about what calls were made, not listen in. And they had to issue a correction. [1]
