🎤 Google (Nest Division) sort of fucked up -- they had microphones in their Nest line of security products, and didn't really tell people (or call it out). Some people were creeped out by having a microphone in their bedrooms, etc., and Google not being clear about it (keeping it "secret"). Worst of all is that there is one in the Smoke Detectors, that wasn't completely disclosed. Failure to communicate.


🗒️ NOTE:
I'm not really creeped out about it. It's not transmitting audio of everything, as far as I know, more keywords or things they care about. But you kind of have to trust Google not abuse that ability, and a lot of people don't have that trust with them.
